This position will report to the Chief Mine Maintenance Engineer.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for assisting the Chief Mine Maintenance Engineer in all aspects of the Mine Maintenance department, including equipment selection, mechanical design, project management, contractor management and other assigned duties

  • Provide maintenance engineering support to maintain and improve underground facilities, equipment and processes

  • Design review of existing and new mechanical and structural systems

  • Perform technical assignments including:

  • Gathering and correlating basic data

  • Performing detailed engineering duties involving calculations and relatively standard tests

  • Making computations and preparing graphs and charts from recorded data

  • Preparing design drawing, technical record and reports

  • Making recommendations and being involved with important decision-making on technical aspects of projects

  • Supervise Mine Mechanical Technicians to ensure timely and accurate completion of assignment

  • Interface with operations and maintenance personnel for successful development, planning, execution and completion of new or existing requipment and methods

  • Coordinate the activies of service providers

  • Act as a relief supervisor for mine maintenance and shaft departments, as required

  • Be a safety leader, foster a positive safety culture, and perform duties, as assigned, for the Safety Program

What you will bring:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to handle a large and varied workload

  • Understanding and application of Project Management principles and techniques

  • Ability to effectively communicate in a professional setting with a diverse group

  • Experience with Mechanical/Structural inspections is an asset

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applicatioons, as well as Primavera scheduling software and Oracle Business Intelligence software is an asset.

  • Mechanical Engineering degree

  • Must be registered or be eligible for registration with APEGS

  • P. Eng designation (through APEGS) is an asset

  • Ability to work underground

  • Understanding of underground potash mining is an asset

  • Eligible to work in Canada
