Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the 97th Force Support Squadron, Fitness Center. Responsibilities Performs a variety of duties and responsibilities in support of day-to-day operations of the Altus AFB Fitness Center. Serves as desk attendant ensuring only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment and adhere to Fitness Center Policy. Greets visitors, answers telephone, makes reservations for classes or use of the equipment and facilities, and provides information on scheduled events and classes. Provides assistance and basic instruction to patrons in the proper use of exercise machines and equipment. Issues sports equipment and facilities according to established standards and local fire and safety procedures. Inspects returned equipment noting damage. Inspects all equipment and facilities according to established standards and local fire and safety procedures. Reports damaged exercise equipment to supervisor. Conducts minor repairs when necessary. Conducts cleaning of machines daily as prescribed in Fitness Center checklists. Operates point of sale system; receives payment and issues change for services such as massage therapy and personal training. Prepares cashier reports and makes daily deposits to the central cashier. Performs opening and closing procedures of facilities IAW written guidelines. Assists in setting up facilities, grounds and equipment for programs and special functions. Launders towels and upholds DV towel program. Performs other duties as assigned. Intervenes in disputes between customers and/or other staff members and ensures a customer friendly work and work-out environment is maintained. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have responsible experience in clerical, office, cash handling or retrial sales store of any kind which demonstrates the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position. Experience must demonstrate knowledge of proper cash handling procedures, the ability to resolve common arithmetic problems when receiving payment from customer, and the ability to operate a cash register. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassi8sted and 100 pounds with assistance. Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination. Must be ab le to read, speak and write English and communicate effectively with patrons. Must be willing to work an uncommon tour of duty. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a national Agency Check. This is a drug testing position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position DOES NOT allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
