Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Art & Visual Culture (AVC) in the College of Design at Iowa State University (ISU) invites applications for the position of Lecturer in the area of Art History. The appointment for this position is anticipated to begin August 16, 2024, and the initial length of the appointment will be one academic year until May 15, 2025, with the possibility of renewal. This will be a 75% Full Time Equivalency (FTE) appointment for the coming academic year.

Qualified candidates will bring a broad knowledge of the teaching and practice of Art History. The successful candidate will teach two undergraduate-level Art History courses, developed in consultation with the department Chair, each semester. This will include preparing a syllabus, course materials, and assessment tools. Additional responsibilities include holding office hours.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.A. in Art History or related discipline

  • Evidence of successful college-level teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Art History or related discipline

  • Demonstrated evidence of professional accomplishment in the field

  • Evidence of successful college level teaching experience as Instructor of Record
