About this role

We are seeking a dynamic Data Migration Specialist with a proven track record in data integration and data conversion to join our growing Integration Solutions Practice. This role is pivotal in standardizing and executing a scalable data migration strategy across various asset classes, employing the Aladdin Platform’s robust capabilities. This is a client-facing position offering an opportunity to collaborate with a broad range of internal stakeholders at BlackRock, thereby contributing significantly to the evolution of our implementation strategy.

Main Function

As a Data Migration Specialist, you will play a crucial role in orchestrating the data migration lifecycle, ensuring the seamless transition of client data onto the Aladdin Platform for private markets (eFront). This role demands a strong collaborative approach, working closely with the core Aladdin implementation teams to deliver on client commitments. Your expertise will also be instrumental in defining and driving the advancement of methodology, in sync with our other Aladdin Client Transformation practices.

Main Duties

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of data migration workflows for client projects, which involves:

  • Engaging with clients to collect essential data documentation for migration.

  • Defining import requirements and corresponding formats.

  • Mapping and documenting data points for ETL processes to align with Aladdin’s data structure.

  • Creating customized import templates and reconciliation queries tailored to client needs.

  • Utilizing automation tools and standard reports to conduct thorough testing.

  • Generating technical documentation and specifications and maintaining progress updates through project management tools.

  • Ensuring comprehensive documentation and archiving of all workflows for future reference and compliance.

  • Assessing new data migration initiatives and refining our methodology to standardize engagement pricing and resource allocation.

  • Champion the integration of AI to streamline data migration processes, focusing on enhancing accuracy and operational efficiency.

  • Educate and evangelize the adoption of advanced AI methodologies across internal teams, demonstrating their impact through success metrics.

  • Foster a culture of innovation by leading initiatives that showcase AI's role in improving data workflow scalability and decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Computer Sciences, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field

  • Fluency in English and excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey concepts clearly and simply.

  • Proficient in SQL and a working knowledge of ETL processes, proficiency in Alteryx is strongly desirable.

  • Proficiency in additional integration (e.g., APIs) and BI tools such as PowerBI or Tableau is highly regarded.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving prowess and a proactive mindset.

  • Well-organized with strong project management capabilities

  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently within a team environment.

  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R is highly regarded.

  • Experience with automated testing tools and methodologies.

  • Functional understanding of finance and private markets is advantageous.
