The Maintenance Services Engineer has considerable supervisory responsibility. This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager.
What you will do:
The Maintenance Services Engineer manages, plans, organizes, and directs engineering projects to meet company objectives for design, new product development and improvement of existing infrastructure
The Maintenance Services Engineer will work closely with multiple levels of management such as Corporate Capital group, Operations, Maintenance, and Technical Services teams to scope out prospective projects, agree on timings and service level agreements with clients, negotiate with third party contractors and manage the creation and delivery of detailed project plans. Ultimately, bringing in a profitable, successful project on time and to the satisfaction of the end user
This position is responsible to complete assigned engineering projects and tasks relating to the mining and processing of phosphate ore, production of sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid, manufacturer of ammonia phosphate fertilizers and other phosphate products
Preparation of engineering scope of work and cost estimates in response to engineering requests submitted by other departments
Project management responsibility associated with capital projects, including specifications, prepare requisitions, oversight on engineering firms, and bid analysis on project work activities
Frequent direction and communication with outside suppliers, engineering consultants, and construction contractors is required during project management and problem solving. The engineer will have occasional contact with plant environmental department, with regulatory agencies or the corporate team
Preparing status reports and regularly monitors budgets, contractors, and schedules. Allocates project resources appropriately; approves expenditures
Preparing project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions
Acting as resident project engineer, direct contract engineering services, ensure project cost control and input in to Oracle EPM data base
Evaluating long term, short term, and immediate production/marketing plans for profit optimization of gross and net income, along with best distribution of intermediate P205 streams, raw materials, and the turbine generator income
Preparing annual budget material balances which match the needs of the marketing group with production availability needs
Monitoring and reporting energy consumptions by operating departments. Determine steam usage rates and efficiencies and their effect on the cogeneration income. Determine monthly dollar charges and credits for accounting of energy to encourage energy conservation in departments
Evaluating process changes or projects, such as clean acid, and hemihydrates, which affect the distribution of various P205 streams, steam distribution and Cogen income
Maintaining safe and clean work environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations. Maintains project integrity and reputation through compliance with federal and state regulations
Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results, as needed
What you will bring:
A general knowledge of phosphate rock mining, ore processing, and chemical processing at the Aurora Mining and Manufacturing Complex is required
Proven ability with following skills:Design Skills, Project Management, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Process Improvement, Technical Understanding, Documentation Skills, Safety Management, Supervision, CAD, CAD/CAM Circuit Design, Oracle systems, P6 professional R15.2
The position requires a thorough grounding in engineering principles and a minimum of 5+ years’ of experience in chemical industry as project engineer or process engineer
Minimum educational requirement is a B.S. Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
General knowledge of phosphate rock mining, ore processing and chemical processing is required
Seminars, meetings, and continuing education in the field of expertise are required to maintain an up to date working knowledge
Must pass a pre-employment exam and drug screening
Registration as a Professional Engineer in North Carolina is highly desirable, but not required
