JOB REQUIREMENTS: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Welcomes and directs patients in a prompt and courteous manner. Monitors visitor access and alerts appropriate personnel. Provides supportive procedures for department staff, patients, and visitors. Responsible for registering patients, verifying, and updating patient financial and demographic information. Maintains a 97% accuracy rating on patient demographics and insurance updates. Maintains scheduling system and follows office scheduling procedures. Answers telephone and determines purpose of callers, and forwards calls to appropriate personnel. Updates appointment calendars. Receives, sorts, and routes organizers as appropriate. Participates in preparation, filing and maintenance of medical records. Participates in daily charge posting including gathering, entering codes, and posting daily charges. Reviews charges with patients and explains financial policies. Accepts and records patient payments and obtains any 3rd party billing information such as Medicaid and private insurance. Provides necessary receipts. Assists patients in completing necessary registration forms and maintains forms in an appropriate manner. Responds to routine requests for information from patients and visitors. Maintains work area and lobby in neat and orderly manner. Attends meetings as required. Participates in all safety in all safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team. Creates and prints fax cover sheets, memos, correspondence, reports, and other documents when necessary. Actively participates and is accountable for duties assigned that support the Mission and Values of being certified as a Patient Centered Medical Home. Follows all CHS policies, procedures, regulatory and legal requirements. Completes required trainings on time. Other duties as assigned. Operate telephone switchboard to answer, screen, or forward calls, providing information, taking messages, or scheduling appointments. Greet persons entering establishment, determine nature and purpose of visit, and direct or escort them to specific destinations. Schedule appointments and maintain and update appointment calendars. Hear and resolve complaints from customers or the public. File and maintain records. Receive payment and record receipts for services. Perform administrative support tasks, such as proofreading, transcribing handwritten information, or operating calculators or computers to work with pay records, invoices, balance sheets, or other documents. Transmit information or documents to customers, using computer, mail, or facsimile machine.
