About the Role

UKG is looking for a Legal Counsel to join our expanding legal team on a part time fixed term contract (3 or 4 days/week - flexible) basis, providing legal support to the company and its APAC operations.

UKG is seeking an experienced, motivated, practical and solution-oriented legal counsel to drive legal matters in APAC. This role will primarily focus on the review, drafting and negotiation of a wide variety of commercial agreements to support the company’s diverse offerings, including SaaS agreements, software licenses, equipment purchase agreements, professional services agreements, dispute management and RFP legal support.

In this role, you will provide vital legal and operational support to our regional APAC team on a wide range of legal matters affecting the region. You will work closely with our Sales, Services and Operational teams and with internal business partners within our Information Security, Cloud, Product Management, Finance and other teams.

The role will report to the UKG APAC Senior Managing Counsel .

Primary Responsibilities:

• Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial and corporate agreements, including customer contracts, vendor contracts, and software and SaaS licensing agreements.

• Analyse legal risk with attention to detail while creatively problem solving.

• Create and update UKG agreement templates.

• RFP response experience

• Dispute management

• Provide timely support to our Sales organisation and other cross-functional stakeholders (including by creating and delivering training).

• Ad hoc projects as required to advise global cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws and current practicing certificate for an Australian jurisdiction.

• 5+ years post-admission experience, ideally in-house legal experience

• Strong SaaS commercial transactional background, with proven experience in negotiating, drafting and advising clients on technology-related commercial contracts, including multi-jurisdictional transactions, software licensing and cloud services

• Knowledge and experience handling privacy issues and laws

• Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.

• Deeply curious, motivated by solving problems rather than just identifying issues. Dispute management experience.

• Self-starter able to work in a very fast paced, changing environment with ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.

• Exceptional communication skills and an ability to engage effectively with a variety of levels and audiences.

• Ability and confidence necessary to work independently, with accountability and across multiple functions.
