FTE: Full Time, 1.0, 0.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

Shift: Days

Pay: $36.19 - $54.28 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

Summary:

Provides protection for the institution, staff and providers from fortuitous loss. Manages professional liability claims in a self-insurance structure. Advises and consults with senior leadership, clinical leadership, staff and providers.

Responsibilities:

Identifies potential compensatory events. Investigates potential/actual liability occurrences and claims. Reviews medical records and other documents. Interviews involved parties. Determines potential liability exposures and claims values.

Works with internal, defense and plaintiffs' counsel. Coordinates deposition schedules and assists with staff deposition preparation. Manages responses to discovery requests. Provides overall management of liability files.

Negotiates with patients, plaintiff's counsel and/or mediators. Coordinates CANDOR discussions per Colorado statue.

Acts as resource for department, leadership, providers and staff in addressing risk management issues. Provides staff support regarding criminal subpoenas.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing or healthcare field.

Required Licensure/Certification: None required.

Minimum Experience: 3 years of healthcare or acute hospital experience.
