Water Management seeks an experienced mechanic with working knowledge of water treatment and reclamation facilities or power plant systems and equipment. Use your expertise and skills to help our congenial team provide corrective maintenance & response to equipment failures or malfunctions at the water & wastewater plants, isolating the cause, and overhaul as needed using specifications provided. Work assignments range from calibrations and minor adjustments to repair and overhaul of equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assists higher-level staff in performing preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance on water and wastewater treatment facilities; assists with welding and equipment alignment.

  • Assists in monitoring inventory levels and obtaining material and supply quotes.

  • Enters data and maintains repair and maintenance records.

  • Performs facility maintenance duties, to include cleaning assigned areas, removing chemical spills, and complying with applicable safety and operating policies and procedures.

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC)

  • One year of advanced study or technical training past the high school equivalency

  • One year of related industrial plant maintenance experience.

  • Valid, unrestricted, North Carolina driver's license "or" if you currently have another states driver's license, must be willing and able to obtain a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire

  • Must be willing and able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) level -B with Tanker Endorsement, within 2 years of hire date. (obtaining a CDL license with necessary endorsements is a requirement once the incumbent transitions from the Apprentice level).

Additional Preferred Skills

  • NC AWWA Maintenance Technologist I within 2 years of start date

  • Must be willing and able to work within a confined space.
