Applied Research Associates, Inc. Radiation Safety Specialist in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey

ARA’s Engineering Science Division is seeking experienced scientists in our Reactive Materials Group. This is a full-time position on-site with the Transportation Security Laboratory (TSL), located at the William J. Hughes Technical Center, Atlantic City International Airport, NJ.

As a radiation safety specialist you will:

  • Provide support to TSL’s Radiation Safety Officer and manage & operate the TSL radiation safety program.

  • Provide support to TSL’s Laser Safety Officer and manage the TSL Laser Safety Program.

  • Support product area and technology leads in testing the equipment in the TSL laboratories.

The radiation safety specialist shall be knowledgeable of all current OSHA and NRC requirements for safe levels of radiation accumulated annually.

Radiation safety specialist requirements:

  • BS in Health Physics, Radiological Science, Engineering, or similar radiation-related field from an accredited college or university.

  • 5+ years’ experience in the field of radiation within the framework of health & safety regulatory requirements.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of federal and state regulations governing radioactive materials.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform personnel training, technical monitoring, and analysis.

  • Possesses radiation safety officer training plus 1 year of full-time radiation safety experience under the supervision of an approved Radiation Safety Officer in a laboratory environment.

  • Must be a US Citizen.

  • Requires Secret Security Clearance or higher and DHS Suitability, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
