Description
This is an entry-level position responsible for assisting in engineering type work that follows standard Lee County DOT procedures in carrying out assignments related to roadway location, utility construction, and other areas in the Department of Transportation - Engineering Division.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under supervision, will ensure that work accomplished by contractors meets the standards specified in the Lee County Land Development Code and associated Administrative Code.
Responsible for supporting professionals to assist in resolving issues or informing of critical situations; evaluation of plans and/or specifications.
Provide assistance in Pavement Management work to include asphalt field inspection, road rating, and all associated paper work/computer data entry.
Perform duties associated with the resurfacing contracts related to ADA and complete street enhancements.
Review construction plans and specifications as required.
Examine and document construction progress of assigned project and provide feedback to Construction Manager.
Research commercial right-of-way and residential permits which include plan reviews, permit issuances, coordination with permittees, contractors and engineers.
Stakeout of residential driveway permits to include surveying methods and use of drainage maps for design purposes.
Receive complaints and requests related to construction activities or other related projects and respond to the public regarding their questions.
Assist in completion of construction files as required to ensure that pay requests and as-builts are correct, and that job progress and issues are fully documented.
Maintain accurate files and records of all assigned projects, both during and after construction.
Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Licensing
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to High School graduation or GED equivalent and one year related experience.
Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record is required.
Supplemental Information
Work days and hours are Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM.
