What you will do:

  • Be the Subject Matter Expert on Inspection Techniques

  • Lead the implementation of Inspection Programs (Fixed Interval and Risk Based Inspection) across Nutrien facilities (North America, South America, and Trinidad)

  • Monitor/audit compliance with stationary equipment procedures materials usage and make recommendations to assure the effective use of these procedures

  • Ensure compliance with applicable Process Safety Management (PSM)elements

  • Provide subject matter expertise on incident investigations, Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and risk based assessments

  • Review (periodically) inspection data/trends and make recommendations for revising inspection frequencies and scope

  • Review inspection reports, Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) and equipment repair procedures

  • Forecast remaining life of equipment and make recommendations for repair/replacement or life extension strategies

  • General technical support for maintenance and repair of equipment including plant turnarounds and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) - this may involve travel across North America, South America and Trinidad

  • Participate in the reviews and technical discussions with the Mechanical Integrity team to develop and identify best work practices

  • Develop technical proposals and evaluation for maintenance, repair, and supply of new equipment, liaising with Suppliers, Contractors, and Project teams

  • Review Inspection practices across the site and recommend “industry-leading” methodologies

  • Participate in overseeing the repair of pressure vessels, piping and tanks and ensure that all repairs are executed in accordance with the applicable codes and standards.

What you will bring:

  • Graduate of Mechanical or Materials Engineering Technology program 

  • API 510, 570 and 653 minimum certifications

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience

  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills

  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, work at elevated heights, sit for long periods of time, and perform many job duties remotely using phone and email

  • Experience doing vessel entries - this may require the use of special protective equipment and clothing, including fall arrest, face mask, and chemical suit

  • Knowledge of process plant equipment and maintenance practices

  • Knowledgeable with relevant industry codes and standards, including API, ASME, ASM

  • Knowledgeable in welding, metallurgical analysis and mode of failures based on service including damage mechanisms listed in API-571 that are found within the various fertilizer manufacturing processes/facilities

  • Knowledge of RCFA techniques

  • Knowledgeable of relevant NDE and fabrication techniques and application

  • Knowledge of PSM requirements
