Dunkin' Maintenance Mechanic in Franklin Park, Illinois

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs a variety of general and preventative maintenance functions to maintain the functionality of Bakery mechanical and electrical systems, to include Bakery production equipment and general building maintenance. Tasks are to be performed in conformity with departmental procedures and food safety considerations. Must be able to troubleshoot, repair and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, electronical, mechanical, and electrical systems and return equipment to service while minimizing machine down time.

  • Provides technical repairs to complex electronic, mechanical, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)

  • Troubleshoots, repairs, fabricates, and/or installs electronic systems, complex gauges, instrumentation repairs, and new parts including mechanical and electronic interfaces

  • Troubleshoots, repairs, adjusts, installs, and programs electronic, electric and pneumatic controls and instrumentation used to control and measure equipment performance, access to buildings, building automation systems, and energy measurement systems

  • Assists production workers in diagnosing malfunctions in systems and equipment.

  • Executes major equipment overhauls. Tests equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime

  • Maintains production equipment while operating on a defined production schedule.

  • Operates general machinery and tools including, drills, power tools, scissor lifts, forklifts, etc.

  • Interacts with and maintains records in accordance with Maintenance Management

  • Maintains clean, organized and safe work area, including wipe and washing equipment and tools,

  • Confers with and coordinates activities with Bakery personnel and other departments to minimize disruptions to production and maintenance schedules.

  • Escorts contractors while in the bakery facility on scheduled visits.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

  • Participates in plant or department start-ups to assure safe and efficient start-ups.

  • Inspects the work and initiates corrective measures to meet established standards.

  • Assists in specifying and ordering repair parts through supplier channels.

  • Participates in the performance and monitoring of preventive maintenance measures.

  • Works cooperatively with managers and supervisors in the accomplishment of relevant company objectives.

  • Any other task or duty as assigned by management or as is deemed necessary by management to insure a safe and orderly environment.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 2 years’ experience in industrial maintenance environment troubleshooting PLC software,

  • Two (2) years’ experience or other maintenance responsibilities that would include the ability to recognize electrical, plumbing, and mechanical malfunctions or equipment failures. Formal training in related fields will substitute on a year for year basis.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred.

  • I/O and field devices and working with mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems

  • preferred

  • Refrigeration, Welding, Boiler/Air Compressor and Machinist experience preferred

  • Knowledge of equipment set-up, functionality, operating procedures, and preventative maintenance techniques.

  • Must have ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, technical sketches, manuals, and schematics in repair and overhaul of equipment and facilities. Must have ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and control systems design documentation and vendor supplied documents including Process & Instrument Drawings (PID), electrical single line drawings, instrument loop drawings, electrical cable, routing and termination, mechanical diagrams, and machine layout drawings.

· Knowledge of operation of programmable logic controllers, personal computers, and current operating system software

· Troubleshoots and repairs motor control centers, electro-mechanical drives, and sub-electrical panels using volt-ohm-amp meters, oscilloscope, and mergers

  • High level of organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • High level of verbal and written English communication skills.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and must also adapt to frequent changes that occur on the production line

  • Able to handle multiple tasks with capability of prioritizing and planning work activities.

  • Ability to function in a team management setting

  • Ability to train and direct personnel as needed.

  • Thorough familiarity with food safety and good food manufacturing practices.

Ability to work Weekends, Holidays and Overtime as required

Pay will be based off of experience

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and PLC equipment repair skills.

  • Knowledge of building code and OSHA regulations.

  • General facility maintenance skills.

  • Good interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
