Summary

The main purpose of this position is to safely load 53 foot trailers with pallets of product using a scanner and an electric pallet jack, and follow all Loading SOP’s to include documentation.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all safety requirements including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), preventing, and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management related matters.

  • Maintains clean and safe working environment.

  • Participates in Company and department safety programs.

  • Using a pallet jack, load 53-foot trailers with pallets of fresh and frozen product weighing up to 100 lbs per box. Operate pallet jack in a safe manner.

  • Scan the necessary pallets for the order, according to the computer-generated load sheet giving the product code, date code and number of cases. List information on load diagram.

  • Follow all policies and procedures relative to loading as described in Quality Assurance loading procedures.

  • Observe quality control standards in assuring that all product is on good pallets and boxes are in condition acceptable for shipping.

  • Complete truck loading in a timely manner as product and order flow allow.

  • Obtain a PIV License within probationary period through Perdue Safety. That includes successfully completing: Vision test, written test, and supervised on the floor training.

Minimum Education

Reading, Writing, Math and analytical skills are required. High School or equivalent not required but beneficial.

Experience Requirements

Worked a minimum of 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer within the past 3 years in a related field within the past 2 years.

Experience Preferred

Experience in poultry processing/manufacturing environment preferred. Must obtain a pallet jack and forklift license through Perdue training and testing. Must be knowledgeable in scanning .

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Must wear personal protective equipment. Work in temperatures consistently between 28º F and 35ºF, with ambient high humidity and noise levels up to 98 db. Lift boxes weighing 5 to 110 lbs to heights from 5” to 84” while on wet floors. Includes exposure to chlorinated water 58 ppm, ammonia vapors 5 ppm, CO2 vapors 5 ppm, detergents an lubricating oils
