rrPosition Summary:

rPerforms research activities and analysis, recording observations and measurements, and reports results. Participates in analyzing and preparing results for publication. Works under general supervision.

Duties may include:

  • Preparing standard solutions for calibration and analyses
  • Interpreting test results and comparing with determined standards and limits
  • Collecting laboratory or field data
  • Conducting research and analysis of scientific data
  • Participating in research design discussions
  • Performing literature reviews
  • Preparing reports
  • Comparing data and historical records for trend verification
  • Developing reference files, comparison charts, and graphs on research data
  • Assisting with site inspections and field oversight
  • Having little or no supervisory responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned

rrMinimum Qualifications:

r

  • Bachelors Degree in agronomy, plant science, food science, chemistry or biology

rrPreferred Qualifications:

r

  • Experience operating and maintaining High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Gas Chromatography (GC)
  • Sampling, preparation, and analytical analyses using various instrumentation including the ability to operate, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot and resolve basic problems with instruments and equipment
  • Conducting physicochemical and phytochemical analyses
  • Conducting respiration trials
  • Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative, alone and cooperatively in small groups
  • Demonstrated ability to plan projects and tasks to achieve goals of overall program
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Experience identifying and solving problems
  • Experience prioritizing tasks and managing own and employees time
  • Experience designing and interpreting results from experiments
  • Experience effectively supervising employees
  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and working cooperatively with faculty and staff from other programs
  • Demonstrated skills of effective interpersonal communication and experience using computer programs, such as Microsoft Office, SAS or R
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing and to maintain clear, detailed records
