Greene Tweed Senior Health Safety and Environmental Coordinator in Kulpsville, Pennsylvania

Specific Responsibility :

· Serves as the main HSE subject matter expert and point of contact for HSE matters at the facility. Develops, implements, administers, and maintains written facility level HSE programs in accordance with legal and company requirements. Delivers or facilitates training required by HSE regulations and associated programs.

· Manages compliance obligations associated with applicable federal, state, and local HSE regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).

· Develops and implements risk reduction initiatives and programs to minimize/eliminate unsafe conditions and at-risk behaviors.

· Leads HSE related projects and works with internal maintenance, production management and outside resources on HSE matters as needed.

· Coordinates and maintains an internal safety program, including safety committees and regular safety meetings.

· Reports HSE performance metrics to the site management and Corporate HSE for review. Assists in the preparation of HSE performance reports/presentations. Works closely with Global HSE Manager to respond to regulatory inquiries, inspections and/or notices of violation pertaining to HSE regulatory requirements, permits and associated programs.

· Audits effectiveness of existing HSE programs and management systems and updates as necessary to ensure compliance and effective performance.

· Conducts routine HSE walkthroughs, inspections and/or audits of facility operations. Monitors findings and management of corrective actions to ensure timely resolution of findings from incidents, inspections, and audits.

· Manages worker’s compensation and injury management programs, including return to work programs. Implements the company’s accident investigation programs and procedures to ensure work related injuries

are reported and investigated with root cause analysis to prevent reoccurrences. Assists with accident investigations if necessary and serves as lead investigator for serious incidents. Manages the OSHA Log and work restrictions with injured employee and supervisors to ensure that restrictions are being followed and all scheduled appointments are met.

· Facilitates HSE training program as required by regulation and company policy as a means of assuring compliance and providing a safe work environment. Act as primary contact for HSE specific training needs for all employees at the location, including HSE training as a part of new employee orientation training.

· Oversees and manages environmental programs, including record keeping for air, water/stormwater, and special/hazardous waste management programs.

· Takes a lead role in implementing emergency response programs including life/safety, fire protection and emergency evacuation procedures. Responsible for ensuring that the facility has the required level of fully trained First Responders.

· Responsible implementation of the facility’s PPE program including identification of minimum, and job specific PPE requirements based on job hazard analyses or risk assessments, identifying suitable PPE vendors, and ensuring the correct PPE is available at the facility.

· Utilize HSE data management software to track hazards, near misses, accidents, injuries, safety observations, audits, inspections and associated corrective actions. Identify appropriate systems for management of environmental related data to support compliance with environment permits and associated regulations. Support collection of data necessary to meet environmental sustainability reporting.

· Understand and maintain knowledge of manufacturing activities and applicable HSE regulations. Monitor for changes to HSE regulatory requirements.

· To the best extent possible, maintain a physical presence in the facility during core work hours by spending time on the manufacturing floor observing and interacting with managers, supervisors and production employees. Periodically attend shift change over meetings and observe operations during off-shift hours to observe effectiveness of HSE management systems.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

· A minimum of 5 years professional work experience in a safety role in an industrial / manufacturing environment. A minimum of 3 years professional work experience in an environmental role desired but not mandatory.

· Must be proficient in federal, state, and local occupational health and safety regulations, applicable industry standards, and core industrial safety concepts (e.g., machine guarding, lockout/tagout, fall protection, rigging, forklift operation, racking etc.) Relevant safety certifications (e.g., CSP) a plus.

· Must have good working knowledge and/or the ability to quickly learn applicable federal, state and local environmental regulations and applicable standards related to air emissions, water/stormwater management, solid and hazardous waste management practices as they apply to Greene Tweed operations. Good working knowledge of SARA, SPCC, SWPPP, emergency response preparedness, Hazardous Materials handling, etc.

· First aid / CPR / AED certification or the ability to obtain certification within 3 months of accepting the position is required. Advanced First Aid certification a plus. Applicable industrial safety training a plus.

· Ability to conduct forklift operator training and manage forklift operator certification program is required.

· Ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization since the position will support multiple managers (facility and value stream) within the facility.

· Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Program and project management skills are critical.

· Must possess strong analytical skills to evaluate facility safety awareness and behaviors. Must be able to evaluate performance metrics and establish the necessary plans to drive continuous improvement. Ability to act as a “change agent” to drive safety culture change.

· Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to work with HSE data management software and analyze data. Ability to maintain accurate records to support compliance and program management.

Education

· BS / BA in an appropriate science or technical field is required unless an appropriate amount of equivalent experience is demonstrated.
