The Mine Mechanical Supervisor is part of a larger group responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of the underground mechanical equipment. The Mechanical Supervisor reports to the Mine Maintenance General Foreman.
Supervising and motivating crew members to work safely and efficiently in the repair and maintenance of various equipment
Communicating procedures and policies to crew members, ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulations
Evaluating problems and assigning priorities when deciding the status of equipment
Overseeing major repairs on mobile equipment, PM mobile equipment, and supervising component rebuild
Advising on equipment modification by observing present installations and by increasing knowledge of new developments in materials and techniques
Approving completed work before equipment is released to production, ensuring acceptable standards are maintained
Demonstrate positive safety behavior and safety leadership
Possess strong leadership skills, including the ability to mentor, coach and correct performance where needed
Ability to work safely and efficiently in a team environment as well as independently
Superior interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills are essential
The ability to train and assist tradepersons with mechanical problems they encounter
Strong computer skills are required, including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
Willingness to learn and gain adequate knowledge and experience through training
Recognized Journeyperson certificate
Several years' experience in the mechanical trade
Working knowledge of the operation and repair of all production equipment, including face equipment, conveyors, electrical units, mobile equipment and the hoisting system
Must obtain and maintain an underground supervisor certificate, per the Saskatchewan Mines Regulations
