To realize global procurement strategic priorities and value delivery, Nutrien is building a world-class procurement function across our entire organization and operating sites. The Analyst, Retail Indirect Procurement as a part of Nutrien’s dynamic Procurement team, will help bring that vision to life. He/she will be responsible for supporting the Manager, Financial Programs (the Manager) in executing Nutrien’s Retail procurement strategy, and assiting in deploying procurement best practices into the Retail business unit. This includes, but is not limited to, day-to-day engagement with Retail site leadership and team members to deliver sustainable procurement value in indirect spend categories through the use of strategic spend management practices, data science and analytics, innovative stakeholder engagement and communication practices and tools, effective governance, templates, and technologies and best supplier management practices.

What you will do:

  • Work closely with Retail Stakeholders (including Retail sites) to ensure a successful implementation of Procurement best practices and organizational objectives.

  • Support the Development, implementation and management of procurement purchasing programs including the enterprise purchasing card program, Ariba and S4 systems. By understanding the specific business requirements of Retail and Wholesale a consolidated program will be implemented to leverage Nutrien’s scale. Given the reliance on the Pcard by Retail, the implementation, training and ongoing management of the program will be managed to minimize disruption.

  • Support the coordination of the implementation of the new Expense Management System (EMS). This new system will provide Nutrien with a single platform for processing all T&E and Purchasing Card (Pcard) expenses. The system will simplify expense processing for the end user, provide better visibility and controls, and minimize the administrative effort of maintaining multiple systems / processes.

  • Assist in implementing Category strategy in line with Procurement Organization objectives to the Retail business unit. The role will be a partner to Retail site leaders, team members and other internal stakeholders in managing total spend while procuring quality products and services to meet company requirements

  • Assist in the execution of Retail site goods and services procurement and strategic cost management, including responsibility for executing Retail site (“local”) spend category strategy and procurement service delivery.

  • Assist the Manager in identifying savings opportunities, then working with Lead to develop and implement savings initiatives

  • Assist the Manager in developing and executing innovative communication strategies, tools and technologies to drive ease of procurement and decision making on the ground, in the field at Retail operating sites

  • Assist the Lead Global Retail Indirects in developing Retail spend cube with the Nutrien Procurement Center of Excellence (COE)

  • Assist the Manager in developing Retail Material and Service Master Data [MMD, SMD] with the Nutrien Procurement COE

  • Perform ongoing data analytics, track initiative savings, synergies and monitor Retail site performance

  • Manage the Retail Indirect procurement SharePoint for all contract, templates and governance

  • Assist in the implementation of procurement tools (Ariba) and templates across Retail sites, including the tactical use of these tools to drive early Retail value capture

  • Work with the Manager to identify Retail specific tools and templates needed from the Nutrien Procurement COE Customer Focus

  • Work closely with Retail site leaders to ensure a successful implementation of procurement best practices and organizational objectives

  • Act as an advocate for Retail site and Procurement interests, working to drive the best outcomes for Nutrien

What you will bring:

  • The applicant must demonstrate a strong initiative, work ethic, and dedication to constructing and executing best-in-class procurement strategies and plans, specifically to the Retail business unit. Must be a “quick study”, able to sort through considerable information, get to the “heart of the matter”, and move forward expeditiously.

  • The applicant will need to address competing interests, reluctant participants, and other barriers to participation in the supply chain – navigating many perspectives and positing thoughtful and collaborative solutions to build relationships and support the team.

  • This role will work closely with retail sites, stakeholders and procurement leadership to understand and solve challenges as they arise, to implement and track savings initiatives over time (ongoing data analysis and opportunity development), and to act as a trusted advisor to Retail sites on Procurement related topics;

  • Analytical (or financial) acumen; and

  • This role will have the full support and guidance from the Retail Lead and Manager but will have a reasonable amount of autonomy to build the relationships and support necessary to bring the best of Procurement to the Retail sites.

  • Broad experience in supply chain, business development, and procurementbest practices in a world classorganization;

  • Demonstrated experience in change management / communications;

  • Experience in supply chain management, including procurement spend and capability assessments, multi-phase sourcing efforts,supplier relationshipmanagement, and business process improvement initiatives, with ability to identify, develop, propose, and implement process change;

  • Experience and expertise working within the Agriculture sector;

  • Analytical acumen a must; and

  • Post-secondary education, including an undergraduate degree in a business-related field;
