JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: This position works closely with the WNPRC Compliance Manager and the Attending Veterinarian, as well as the UW-Madison\'s Environmental Health and Safety Departments, to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and University research regulations with respect to occupational health and safety, including biological, chemical, and radiation safety. This is done by maintaining knowledge of current regulations and maintaining required OSHA safety plans. Through the development and implementation of various safety plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs), this position provides training and guidance to faculty, staff, and trainees at the WNPRC on all applicable occupational health and safety regulations and policies. This position conducts regular inspections of the various work areas to collect and analyze data and coordinate the implementation of improvements to the many types of work environments. This position also provides initial training to personnel on how to work safely at the WNPRC, manages exposure and injury responses and prevention strategies, manages the WNPRC\'s emergency response plans and procedures, monitors the adequacy of emergency supplies and equipment, and ensures the requirements for working with new hazards are met. Responsibilities: Identifies and develops plans to address safety issues, provides consultation, and tracks and manages cases in a specific area of specialty so all work, recreation, and research can be performed safely and in compliance will all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and standards.
