DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Purchasing Agent, you will utilize Commonwealth purchasing systems to perform technical purchasing work for the department. This position is primarily responsible for the routine procurement of supplies and services for DOC Central Office. In this position, you will provide knowledge and guidance for DOC staff in determining the appropriate methods for purchasing supplies, materials, equipment, and services; maintain purchasing documentation as well as an electronic list of approved vendors; use a Commonwealth purchasing card to make payments to vendors; and establish and hold bid openings and evaluations, as well as award contracts. Additionally, you will resolve routine purchasing and delivery problems through contact with the Comptroller's Office, Central Office procurement staff, and vendors.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Mechanicsburg. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 60 or 65. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,010 (before taxes). Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years. Additional Requirements:
