Purpose:  

Proactively champion Farwest’s quality process and culture. To measure parts in flat and formed conditions to drawing callouts, drawing tolerances, edge quality, and dimensional requirements to meet customer, job and Farwest requirements. To oversee welding quality requirements are met in process(s), parameters, sequence, and application. To help develop, educate and train peers and operators in accordance with Farwest work instructions, standards and policies.

Major Duties Performed:

  • Performs visual and dimensional inspection to Farwest Steel Corp. standards, industry standards (including AWS D1.1) and customer requirements. Research/write non-conformance/returned goods authorizations.

  • Provides written procedures for Farwest Steel Corp. including QWIs (Quality Work Instructions), SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and Quality Manual Revision.

  • Oversee all production processes and related documentation of records. Provides weld sequencing for production when required.

  • Performs Formal First Article Inspections and records data on internal and/or customer provided documentation. Organizes and maintains inspection documentation, file reporting, records and planned achieving.

  • Qualified candidates will perform NDT to welds: Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, and Visual; Performs dimensional inspection and receiving documentation.

  • Provides training for operators and other inspectors. Provides instructional classes for prints, weld symbols and welding gasses. Provides Dimensional Inspection Training for Farwest Inspectors.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Print reading and AWS 2.4 Standard Symbols for Welding, Brazing, and Non-destructive Examination required. Ability to make mathematical calculations.

  • Ability to use both verbal and written English effectively, with courtesy and tact, in dealing with co-workers, customers and vendors. Proficient use of PC (Word, Excel, Outlook) required to draft all weld related documentation (experienced documentation and daily reporting skills a must).

  • Clear understanding of using measuring tools, reading prints, with strong customer service skills.

Pay Range: $20.65 - $28.70 DOE
