THE POSITION

Utilize your skills and training in food service to leave a positive impact on the lives of our residents! South Mountain Restoration Center is dedicated to providing compassionate, professional, high-quality care to the citizens of Pennsylvania. If you are reliable, hardworking, and have experience in cooking or quantity food preparation, then this is a great opportunity for you!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Cook 1, you will be responsible for the food preparation at the center. You will be assigned to work in one of the following areas: the main kitchen, ingredient rooms, meat thaw and preparation, or as a general cook. Cooks in the main kitchen prepare and distribute a variety of foods for menus and special events. Ingredient room cooks prepare ingredients in advance of each day’s production and maintain inventory of the center’s storeroom. Meat thaw and preparation cooks prepare meat for cooking using established thawing methods and also maintain inventory. The general cooks ensure that all equipment is in proper condition and cleaning procedures are being followed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are as follows, with a 30-minute flex lunch break. You will have rotating on and off duty days, including weekends and holidays. Positions will be assigned based on operational need.

  • 1st position: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

  • 2nd position: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM

  • You may have to work overtime as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Desirable Preparation for Work:

  • Experience in cooking or quantity food preparation; or any equivalent combination of experience and/or training.
