Role Purpose

To ensure that all new business and renewal quotations for protection presented to CML adhere to CML Underwriting Guidelines and rating criteria and fall within Reinsurance Treaty provisions. Provide assistance to the Account Managers.

Key Accountabilities

• Review quotations, renewals and endorsements entered by Account Managers and other internal staff to determine whether risk is acceptable within Underwriting Guidelines and appropriate for our book.

• Modify contribution amounts to reflect the risk proposed in line with guidelines.

• Analyse and provide commentary regarding points of interest from the Declaration, site surveys, photos and any other information provided.

• When necessary, add clauses that clarify the protection limit conditions.

• Assess and apply discount requests within authorised limits.

• Review and process Cancelations and Interim Protection requests.

• Within the team manage your workload to meet required turnaround times.

• Refer to Management, where necessary, risks which fall outside Underwriting Guidelines with recommendations thereon.

• Research risks and locations of risk in relation to flood, cyclone probability, etc.

• Participate and contribute to continuous improvement throughout the underwriting process.

• Obtain information for, and document referrals to Reinsurers.

• Prepare questions for Account Managers to assist in determining quality of risk or ability to quote.

• Assist with documentation of Underwriting Guidelines.

• Provide underwriting reports and summaries as requested.

• Assist other team members wherever possible.

• To perform other tasks as reasonably requested within the individual's skills, competence and ability.

Skills, Knowledge and Attributes

• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Underwriting Guidelines

• Knowledge and understanding of PDS

• Ability to analyse risk and make decisions in light of Underwriting Guidelines

• Understanding of basic business practices

• Research skills

• Knowledge and understanding of Reinsurance arrangement

• Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Applications including Outlook Word and Excel

Experience

• Two years' experience in an Underwriting Role within an insurance company or alternative.

Qualifications

• Educated to Year 12 standard or equivalent

• ASIC RG146 Tier 1 qualification
