The Data Science and Analytics Lead is responsible for ensuring good data analysis and modeling practices are applied to functional and enterprise data science solutions and driving best practice around responsible and ethical data usage. The Data Science and Analytics Lead will partner with Information Services (IS) colleagues and the business to leverage data and analytical tools, strategic thinking, and enterprise data assets to deliver insights for Jazz. This role is part of the new Enterprise Data Strategy team at Jazz and will play a critical role in delivering on Jazz's Enterprise Data Strategy. Insights yielded through this function will improve decision making withing the business and drive operational efficiencies by advancing data driven thinking at Jazz.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Transform data into actionable insights and recommendations to identify trends and patterns and generates insights for business units and senior leadership

Partner with cross-functional teams to examine relevant data, identify new analytics opportunities, developing the data requirements and models to create an analytics plan and deliver value to the business

Translate business needs into analytics/reporting requirements to support executive decision making with data driven insights

Provide guidance on best practices for data visualization and considerations of UI / UX for ease of user consumption

Collaborate with functional analysts and data science leads to create a community of practice and shape the data science strategy at Jazz

Partner with Enterprise Data Strategy team colleagues and IS partners to lead analytics community and provide guidance on the optimal analytics solution to meet business needs

Oversee, design and conduct data analyses with the highest standard of rigor and scientific accuracy; this includes study design, methodology, algorithms, and statistical modeling

Provide advisory support in the evaluation of AI / ML add-ons to existing platforms and technologies to ensure solutions are optimized and functions are aware of how to best utilize the capabilities

Summarize complex models in a way that senior leaders can consume and understand, enabling a data driven decision making culture

Serve as subject matter expert in the concepts of statistical analysis, model operations, evaluation of data science tools and techniques and emerging technologies in the AI / ML space

Develop analytical solutions by using and applying appropriate methodology - including, but not limited to, regression, forecasting, clustering, decision trees, simulation, optimization, machine learning, and neural networks

Research and implement new techniques and tools in machine learning/deep learning/artificial intelligence to make data analysis more efficient

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

10+ years of relevant project experience in successfully launching, planning, and executing data analytics projects, including statistical analysis and data visualizati n

Proven experience in conducting statistical analysis and building models with advanced scripting languages

Proven experience working in highly collaborative cross-functional teams and delivering solutions through both waterfall and agile project delivery

Experience leading projects that apply data science and analytics to business functions

Prior experience in pharmaceuticals, biotech industry preferred, experience in highly regulated industry a plus

Fluency in multiple programming languages and statistical analysis tools such as R, SAS, Excel, SQL, git

Strong understanding of AI, its potential roles in solving business problems, and the future trajectory of generative AI models

Knowledge of statistical and data mining techniques such as generalized linear model (GLM)/regression, random forest, boosting, trees, text mining, hierarchical clustering, deep learning, generative AI

Adherence to best practices for crafting maintainable and modular code

Ability to communicate complex projects, models, and results to a diverse audience with a wide range of understanding

Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a diverse team including IT and functional analytics teams.

Acute problem-solving acumen, combined with critical thinking and a history of devising innovative solutions to intricate challenges.

Passionate about promoting a data driven culture while operating with the highest integrity and ensuring responsible and ethical data usage

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses

BS or MS with relevant additional course work / training in computer science, data science, statistics, or a related field

Candidates will ideally have a specialization in Data Analytics, Statistics, ML or AI

FOR US-BASED CANDIDATES ONLY Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the full and complete base pay range is $172,000-$258,000.  Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, and other pertinent factors. The goal is to ensure fair and competitive compensation aligned with the candidate's expertise and contributions, within the established pay framework and our Total Compensation philosophy. Internal equity considerations will also influence individual base pay decisions. This range will be reviewed on a regular basis. At Jazz, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance with the terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity
