Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, Health, Safety and Security, the Safety Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of a comprehensive safety and health program to safeguard workers’ well being and comply with applicable government regulations. This position will work very closely with the management team and workers of the operating units.

Key Tasks:

  • Provide direction in the development, implementation, maintenance and sustainability of EH&S policies, procedures and processes resulting in reduced losses and enhanced worker’s morale.

  • Develop and promote safety ideas, proposal, systems and equipment that support overall safety objectives.

  • Analyze data relating to safety, identify adverse trends, and recommend positive action.

  • Maintain and improve Safety reporting and follow-up systems.

  • Provide expertise in and interpretation of legislation to assist the site in determining how to comply with all appropriate safety legislation, and company policies, procedures and guidelines.

  • Provide strategic direction to the joint worksite health and safety committee as well as being an active participate in various other site committes and teams as well as the Department Management Team.

  • Ensure Department Safety initiatives and standards are in alignment with Site and Company directives.

Skills:

  • Strong presentation skills both with small groups and large audiences.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to relate with all levels within the company as well as regulators and other industry representatives.

  • Self motivated and independent worker.

  • Excellent computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, SAP).

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an industrial setting, specifically with safety management systems.

  • CRSP designation in good standing.
