AgroLiquid Research Agronomist in Saint Johns, Michigan

Laboratory conditions are ideal for developing high-efficiency fertilizer products, but they don't show us how these products work in real life conditions. That's where the NCRS comes in.

About the North Central Research Station:

Our products are developed through scientific research conducted in real cropping conditions at our North Central Research Station (NCRS). This research facility with more than 1,400 tillable acres, allows us to test our products, as well as other crop inputs, and study the challenges that farmers face every year, including drought, disease, fungus, and, perhaps most important, yield. It's this combination of expert chemistry and in-the-field research that helps AgroLiquid develop the best products, and helps our customers get the best return on their fertilizer investment.

About this Position:

As the Research Agronomist at our North Central Research Station you'll be at the forefront of leading AgroLiquid research trials. This means you'll have the empowerment, autonomy and ability to employ your expertise in the design, execution and analysis of crop research trials. As a part of this position you'll work alongside our expert team of Agronomist as you run experiments. You'll have frequent collaboration with our Sales Team as you harvest data and present your findings to the group as well as share annual research reports with Farmers, customers and other members of the agricultural community.

Your Most Important Interactions and Activities:

  • Work alongside Research Agronomist to conduct research experiments. This includes planning experiments, designing trial protocols and collecting and analyzing trial data.
  • Present trial results to AgroLiquid's Sales and Agronomy team and communicate results in our annual research report. This includes developing PowerPoint presentations, research documents and leading meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to supply information that will support them in the field as they interact with retail partners and conduct grower meetings.
  • Oversee university students who participate in our Summer Diversified Internship Program. This includes participating in the interview and selection process as well as delegating duties throughout the program.

The Key Skills and Experience Required for the Position:

  • A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in a Research Agronomist OR Field Agronomist position
  • Possess a Bachelors degree in a Crop and Soil based degree program. A Masters Degree will increase application competitiveness
  • A Strong Agronomy background. This includes soil and tissue testing, a thorough understanding of plant maturity, fertility and advanced agronomic concepts
  • Previous experience setting trial protocols, performing data collection, data analysis and interpretation
  • Row Crop Experience
