Job Summary:

As In-Room Dining Overnight Captain at Regent Santa Monica Beach, you will spearhead a team committed to delivering extraordinary dining experiences directly to our guests' rooms. Your role serves as a cornerstone in upholding the resort's esteemed reputation for impeccable service and culinary excellence. We seek a dynamic individual with a deep-rooted passion for hospitality, exceptional leadership acumen, and an unwavering attention to detail.

A little bit about your day:

Reporting to the In-Room Dining Manager, every day is different, but you will mostly:

  • Promote Regent’s service philosophy and style through our people attributes.

  • Maintain impeccable personal grooming standards to uphold the professional and property style of the resort.

  • You will receive guests’ orders via phone, online, or in-person, accurately recording dietary restrictions, allergies, preferences and any special requests.

  • Be well versed in the menu offerings, including daily specials, and provide recommendations to guests.

  • Ensure prompt and efficient delivery of orders to guest rooms, adhering to Forbes standards service times.

  • Prepare and arrange in-room dining trays/carts, including table settings, utensils, and condiments, with attention to detail and presentation.

  • Verify the accuracy and presentation of each order before delivering it to the guest, maintaining the highest standards of quality.

  • Interact courteously and professionally with guests, addressing their needs and ensuring their satisfaction throughout the meal.

  • Accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and other special requests, communicating them clearly to the kitchen.

  • Process payments accurately, including room charges and gratuities, and maintain proper documentation.

  • Clear and clean guest rooms after the meal, promptly removing used dishes and maintaining cleanliness standards.

  • Bussing each floor/ Landings during the evening to make sure all of the guest facing areas are clean or debris.

  • Keep track of inventory levels for in-room dining supplies and report shortages to management.

  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene protocols, ensuring the safe handling and storage of food and beverages.

  • Collaborate with the kitchen, front desk, and other departments to ensure seamless service and resolve any issues promptly.

  • Implement upselling techniques to maximize revenue, suggesting additional menu items or promotions to guests.

  • Stay informed about menu changes, resort events, and promotions to provide accurate and up-to-date information to guests.

  • Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance service skills and stay updated on resort policies and procedures.

  • Collect and communicate guest feedback to management, contributing to continuous improvement in service quality.

What We need from you:

  • Communication and interpersonal skills are used frequently when interacting with guests, cooks, and managers.

  • Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency.

  • Ability to read and write when taking orders and/or completing paperwork.

  • Basic math skills are frequently used when handling cash and credit.

  • Handling food objects, products and utensils.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel repetitively.

  • Flexible schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

What you can expect from us:

The hourly pay range for this role is $17.20 to $21.50, plus tips . This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed at Regent Santa Monica Beach . This is the lowest to highest pay scale we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. A colleague’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.

Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable. The amount and availability of any bonus, commission, or any other form of compensation that are allocable to a particular employee remains in the Company's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified at the Company’s sole discretion, consistent with the law.
