The Seasonal Crop Scout will report to the Branch Manager who is responsible for your schedule, safety procedure training and agronomy training including weed, insect and disease identification, pest and crop population counts, crop and weed staging and other diagnostic issues that may occur in farmer’s fields. You will have daily contact with your supervisor along with location representatives and other Crop Scout Assistants as required. You will be supplied with equipment to do your job which may include a vehicle, cell phone and other equipment as necessary.
Inspects farmers’ fields and records weed, insect, disease and other observations
Communicate observations to the Nutrien branch representative and back to the customer
Play an important role in field scouting services offered to help farmers make timely, informed and economical field crop decisions
There may also be an opportunity to provide branch support and special events support during the growing season
Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time under all weather conditions
Persons looking for a challenging summer experience that involves prompt decision making, embracing leadership and helping farmers succeed
Above average organizational skills, ability to understand new concepts and learn quickly, complete work targets with little or no supervision in a timely manner, self-motivated
Education includes (but not limited to) students or graduates from university or college agricultural programs, business programs or other education who are genuinely interested in working in the agricultural community
Having a farm background is advantageous but not necessary
