About the Position:

Responsible for providing group and individual sessions and related rehabilitative treatment services to substance abuse students in a residential setting.  Provides direct services and related rehabilitative treatment services to substance abuse students in a therapeutic community setting.

The hourly wage is $20.00.

Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday

Location: Vista, CA. 

What You Will Do:

  • Leads and participates in group, individual, and therapeutic processes under the supervision of a certified behavioral health professional.

  • Serves as a student advocate.

  • Participates in faculty staffing.

  • Interacts with the student’s family, attorney, probation/parole officer, and other individuals or agencies of significance to the student.

  • Observe, record, and evaluate changes in the student's appearance, behavior, and demeanor. 

  • Evaluates emergencies and take appropriate action.

  • Complies evaluate comprehensive social, legal, and personal histories of students.

  • Maintains accurate and timely student records of sensitive nature.

  • Participates significantly with students in determining short and long-range goals and treatment plans.

  • Attends in-service, other training workshops, and conferences.

  • Prepares reports as assigned.

  • May appear in court.

  • Protects students’ health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of student records.

  • Coordinates student activities within the program through participation and demonstration.

  • Provides training and guidance as a role model to students and teaches good work habits.

  • Assists in the supervision of interns and volunteers.

  • Participates in community-building activities, as appropriate to the position.

  • Other duties assigned.

    What You Will Bring:

  • B achelor’s degree in a behavioral health field and one-year experience in a Substance abuse or behavioral health treatment facility; OR High School diploma or equivalent G.E.D., and a combination of Behavioral health education and work experience totaling a minimum of two years; OR Knowledge of therapeutic community processes, methods, and design, including small-group dynamics.

  • Knowledgable with basic 

  • De monstrated ability to relate well to students.

  • Understanding of counseling techniques such as CBT, Motivational, Interviewing, etc..

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressure generated by association with substance abuse students.             

  • Demonstrates proper attitudes and techniques and techniques to residential students.

  • Understand of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse.
